Rolling Base for Poufs

I wanted to change out the dining room table with something different, so I ordered some Indian ottoman poufs and replaced the table with a storage trunk.

I ended up stuffing the poufs with old towels and bedding from the local thrift store.  If you are using quilts and blankets, make sure to cut them into smaller, towel-size pieces.  If you just cram a few blankets in there the pouf will be lumpy – you need smaller pieces to fill in all that space.

It takes A LOT more stuffing than you would think to fill up.  I bought two shopping carts full of stuffing materials and it wasn’t enough.  I had to go to another thrift store to find more filler.  After all that, I discovered that the poufs were too low to use as table seating and it was hard to move them around.

I went to the local Lowe’s to walk around for inspiration and found just what I needed:

Materials used:

  • 4 – 24″ stain-grade round panels
  • 16 – Hardwood Floor Casters with Soft Wheels
  • 1 – box of 1/2″ screws
  • 1 – Minwax Polyshades
  • 1 – stain brush
